I loved this story I have been waiting for Xaiver's story he has always been such a bad boy and for good reasons I really wanted to see his HEA and what a great one it was. After his cruel mother Nerissa sets him up with Lord Bute's daughter many years before it is time that Xavier finds Lizzie again but she is so different now a lot has happened and Lizzie is determined to get Xavier's trust and love this starts a journey that is sensual and filled with danger but Lizzie is strong and brings out the best in Xavier and with the other Westruthers to help this one will have you smiling and turning the pages to get to the end although I didn't want it to end. I highly recommend this one and the series as MS Brooke takes us on a heartwarming sensual and magical journey into the Regency era.

It wasn't bad but I liked the others in the series better. The whole premise seemed a bit weird. I mean, Xavier coming back into Lizzie's life and immediately wants a heir..It was definitely not one of Ms Brooke's better efforts.
Brooke does some fascinating research - the language used and turns of phrase are probably right for the era. You notice this deep research because the story is dry, the characters not as involving as they probably couldbe.
Once again a book that has good characters and secondary characters and a good plot. Had a little of everything I enjoy in a book. Love always conquers all. Read it in a day and a half. Loved the heroine such a strong figure. Felt for the hero some of the time but once again a strong person. Family members all interesting and from previous books. I so enjoy books by this author and look forward to the next.
I pre-ordered this one and couldn't wait for it but it was just okay. I like when books give me butterflies, this one didn't do it much for me... The love scenes were great but the feelings/sparks were missing. I also felt like there was a bunch of random ramblings about stuff that could have been taken out. Giving it 4 stars because it kept me interested enough to actually finish.
I think i am more of a 3.5 on this book. I read it because it is the next in the series that I enjoy. I cannot say that I am a fan of the male lead. I did not care for him in the other books and he is not necessarily all that more likable here. I have an issue with the mom and I don't understand how she is allowed to be such a poisonous force. I get she is the villain but she already was in a previous story and I feel like Brooke could have develpoed the story a bit differently. Overall, the writing was good and the heroine was very likable.
Oh My...what a good read. Don't let the title fool you,,,he got his reputation by being so mistreated by the Mother who never loved him and a father who cared less..The women who loved him; loved him believed in him and gave him babies they could love. Sweet story, recommend to all happy endings .
Good lots of drama. My only problem was I didn't buy him falling for her. He's worldly and she has lead a sheltered life. After one encounter with her husband she runs away and lives in a small village with a preacher and his wife. Her husband knows where she fled to all these many years and doesn't give her a second thought until he needs an heir. Then we are suppose to believe he has love for her? He tells her, give me my heir and a spare and you can retire back to the country. Guess this must turn her to mush because she decides quite quickly thereafter that she will win his love? The whole issue with his mother kept me interested in this one. It was nice reading about characters from past books and getting updates on them. But their feelings for each other didn't ring true for me.
